You can adjust the distane and angle of the calipers easily thanks to the washer. Also the washer helps to keep the calipers firmly in the brake mounts. Washer is uses inside the Magura IDM (4-bolt) mounts and also Magura EVO2 (V-Break / Cantilever) mounts.
